Digital Still Life Painting "The Empty Chair" by Artist Nancee Jean Busse, Painter of the American West

"The Empty Chair," stylus on tablet, 16x20. During this whole COVID thing, I think a lot about my loved ones who are no longer with me. The line between where I am, dancing my sailor's hornpipe on terra firma, and where they are (god knows) seems a lot more fragile than it did pre-pandemic. What inspired this painting was the feeling that my long-gone loved ones were closer than ever, as if, going about my mundane tasks, I could catch a glimpse of one of them out of the corner of my eye. This painting was created digitally, so prints are available from 8x10 to 32x40.

Digital Art, Digital Painting, Botanical, "Cactus" by Colorado Artist Nancee Jean Busse

I saw, and photographed, this amazing, weathered cactus at the Na Aina Kai Botanical Garden on the island of Kauai. When I choose a botanical for a painting, I typically choose something that is compelling because of its complexity, beauty, and/or sexiness. My digital paintings take time and patience, allowing me to abide for a time with each plant I paint. This painting took over 70 hours to complete and over 43,000 strokes.    Because this was painted digitally, it can be reproduced at any proportionate size up to 23.5” x 30”. It will look beautiful printed on paper, canvas, or metal. Contact me and we can discuss which option will work the best for you.

Digital on Collector's Choice: Paper, Metal, or Canvas 30.5 x 23 x 0

Digital Art, Abstract, Red Art “Stirring the Bees” by Colorado Artist Nancee Jean Busse

This digitally created painting required 3000 strokes and 5 hours. There's a line from an old comedy in which one of the characters says, "For every a--hole there are six nice people." The line stuck with me and it has become ingrained in my belief system. That being said, one a--hole can make a lot of folks lives miserable. "Stirring the Bees" represents a dialogue with my art in which frustration and resentment needed a strong voice. This painting will reproduce beautifully on archival paper, as a canvas wrap, or on metal.

Mountain Landscape,Kauai,Waterfall, Digital Art "WAIMEA CANYON RAINBOW" by Colorado Artist Nancee Jean Busse

I love Kauai. This is a landscape painting of Waimea Canyon. It's spectacular; full of steep, orange canyons, waterfalls, and jungle vegetation. All the waterfalls lead to the Pacific. Whenever I've been there, the colors are muted because the atmosphere is full of moisture. The Waimea Canyon's grandeur is magical to me and my artist's heart.
